THE LAST WARM DAYS... DRESS DOWN NOW!

I am enjoying the last warm days of... Washington DC gets cool by the end of September, so I am wearing my short shorts and summer dresses as much as i can. I admit, I hate pants. I don't like fall/winter fashion as much as spring/summer fashion. Not a fan of fancy big coats (although I won't say no to fur.. but that's a whole another story)
Here's me yesterday: wearing my favorite comfy and colorful orange dress and rocking my new Longchamp burgundy tote. I love Longchamp totes... They're so light and goes with literally everything. You can put so much in it. I own 3 different sizes/colors, and I totally recommend it.
Note: If you see one you like, buy it right then and there if you can. The colors are seasonal, so if you miss it, you probably won't see it again... (true story, happened to me)

MY FAVORITE OH-RANJJ TANK

It was a hot day in the nation's capital today. I decided to wear this simple number. Nothing that special, but in the summer, I love showing some skin and rocking some colors. Orange is such a unique and happy color... I think it says a lot about me that my favorite color is orange.

WARDROBE RAID: Guest Fashionista Pamela

Today's guest fashionista happens to be my bestie Pamela. We've been best friends since high school, so I've seen her style development over the years... I remember the first day I saw Pamela. She was rocking a colorful tight tee and jeans. That was her thing back in the day. Although I admit that we both had our fair share of preppy days, we ultimately ended that phase at some point after high school. Pamela's favorite color is green, and she always stayed true to that color. Then college happened! She was no longer a prep, but more punk-ish. She started debuting black nail polish, colorful highlights, and skinny jeans. Today, I'd describe her style as hobo chic... and I call her a "Hippy tree-hugger" sometimes. I absolutely love this girl and her chameleon-like style. I wanted you all to take a look at her world of fashion...

This is what she has to say about her style...
1) Describe your sense of style in 3 words
     - Simple, artsy, and chic
2) Your celebrity style twin?
     - Chloe Sevigny
3) Fashion designer or fashion line you like
     - Lucky Brand. I like their almost ethnic-like artsy style
4) Favorite accessories
     - Interesting earrings and big scarves
5) Signature fashion
     - I love tote bags with different shapes and sizes. I always choose the artsy kind.
6) Fashion tip for my readers
     - Comfort is crucial.
7) What inspires you when you're working on a look
    - Textures, patterns, and different cultural elements
8) Biggest fashion pet peeve
    - I tend to dislike bows very much! They give me the impression of being a gift...
9) Beloved garment
    - My old green denim skirt

MY SCHOOL UNIFORM: short shorts...

I'm taking summer classes this year... and this is the kind of clothes I wear to class. Although the classroom is ridiculously cold, I still rock my short shorts to school. DC summer is hot, and I'd hate to wear jeans outside!! So I take a little blanket to school...Yep, you read it right. BLANKET.

LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!

I got this dress from a little boutique in Washington D.C. At the time, this kind of silk dresses were not that popular. The overall shape of the dress reminds me of Japanese origami. The thing that attracted me most about this dress though is the beautiful pattern... something Italians would put on their scarves. I think it is very elegant. I've only worn this dress three times, because I need a special occasion for it; this dress is just too damn elegant for everyday outings.

SOMETIMES THE BORING OLD IS GREAT! (closet drama)

Lady in Red walking down the streets of D.C

Call me selfish and whatever else you can think of, but i hate sharing my closet. That means, my friends and family never borrow my clothes. Even if they did, I'd just say no. Recently though, I decided to give away some of my goodies to my nieces and cousins. The reason being: 1) I decided to be a good relative, 2) I cannot fit into most of them, 3) my closet is completely full and I barely see most of my clothes (Note: I do not own a walk-in closet. My closet is tiiiny and some of my clothes are on a 'runway' rack in the middle of my bedroom. Classy, I know!) So anyway, I almost chose this red number to give away...  I had this dress for 9 years. I wore it probably ten-fifteen times. I remember falling in love with it when I first saw it in a store... But for something happened today. I passed by the see-through basket full of clothes, and saw this 'gem'. Wait a minute, I was going to give you up?? I tried it on and it fit me just fine... and that's when it hit me. I was just bored to see the same old thing in my closet. I didn't even bother to try on this dress when I decided to dump it in the basket... Ahh, how glad I saw this dress again. Fell right back in love!

WHAT'S IN YOUR PURSE? (Guest Fashionista - Jordana)

Today's guest fashionista is Jordana. You wont pass her on the street without looking back. She is graceful and her sense of style is remarkable. I had the opportunity to watch her style for the past few weeks, and I am a fan...

1. Who's your fashion inspiration?
My mother and sister. I had the good fortune to be born with okay
fashion sense and incredibly fashionable relatives. I steal their
ideas (and their clothes) as often as possible.

2. Any fashion tips for the readers?

Especially in this weather, versatility. I'm all for
work-appropriate length dresses with cardigans on top. After work, you
can take off the cardigan, put on some sandals, and go straight out!

3. If you describe your style in 3 words...

I love colors!

4. What's in your purse?

My purse tends to hold things that fit in three categories: phones,
makeup, food. Personal phone, work phone, mascara, lip gloss, and
whatever random food I'm nibbling on throughout the day. Oh, and my
keys.

5. Must-have item in your purse?

Hard to choose between my lip gloss and my phones. Kind of addicted to both!

WARDROBE RAID: Guest Fashionista Imani

Imani opens up and talks about her style. She is known for her incredibly mysterious yet totally funky style. She calls it mix of bohemian and feminine chic. She once used to be this t-shirt and jeans kind of girl, and transformed into a hopeless fashionista as the years went by. Admirer of the fashion designer Kate Spade, she also says she can't get enough of the fashion line Free People. When I asked Imani who she looks up to as her fashion idol, she said Zoe Kravitz. Also, you will not find her jewelry shopping, why? Because Imani loves her mother's jewelry collection. Although Imani's wardrobe is very bohemian-inspired, she is a girly girl deep inside. Her beloved garment is her beautiful prom dress.

Beloved shoes: Kate Spade darling heels
