LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!

I got this dress from a little boutique in Washington D.C. At the time, this kind of silk dresses were not that popular. The overall shape of the dress reminds me of Japanese origami. The thing that attracted me most about this dress though is the beautiful pattern... something Italians would put on their scarves. I think it is very elegant. I've only worn this dress three times, because I need a special occasion for it; this dress is just too damn elegant for everyday outings.

SUMMER DRESS 2.0 PART II

This dress is one my favorite because of its simplicity. Without the belt, the dress itself is very plain... and that's okay. But I always wear it with different fun belts just to give it a little color. Today, i donned a cute electric pink, very thin belt. Also the dress conveniently has pockets on the sides. Accessories here include giant lime green shell earrings and platform heels. 

Sunday Funday Fashion: Ruffles & PolkaDots

I posed for these pictures right before it started pouring... Unfortunately I didn't bring an umbrella with me, so I was completely wet by the time I got to my coffee shop. Anyway, my outfit for the day: a very cute dress (yes, it looks like a dressy tank top with polka dotted skirt). I got it from Abercrombie and Fitch two years ago. What I absolutely love about this dress is the fit. The stretchy top part hugs the body right while the ruffles give it a dressy look. The skirt is a whole another story. It is creates a beautiful silhouette, and together with the dress it makes my figure look hourglass-y ha! I accessorized with light pink pearl necklace my grandma gave me, and Kate Spade pink stud earrings.

For the Love of Betsey Johnson

The name Betsey Johnson is familiar to generations of women around the world. She is a fashion genius and her creations are always absolutely breathtaking. Time after time her designs vowed the world of fashion, and season after season she came up with even more outrageous ideas. There was never a dull moment in the Betsey Johnson fashion universe. She made millions of girls and women (and men, of course) happy.
At least in my life the Betsey designs made huge impact. My cherished, big moments were all involved Betsey dresses. My prom, college graduation, and my engagement... Over the years, I've collected a lot of Betsey dresses and accessories. For the record, she makes the funkiest jewelry.
Sadly on April 26, 2012 Betsey Johnson filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. Soon after all the stores started closing down... Georgetown Washington DC store was my personal favorite. So when I heard the bad news I went over to the store to show my respect. I remembered the good old days... The store used to be busy all the time. Once every few months I'd go to the Betsey store (it's pink and always welcome). For some reason, every time I entered the store, I'd be upset or sad about something. Betsey dresses did the trick, it always cheered me up. Seeing my reflection in the mirror wearing a very pretty dress made me feel like a princess. Yes, i said it. I felt like a princess every time. Size 2 Betsey dresses fit me perfectly, as if they were made just for me. If i had the money, I would've bought the entire store. The last day i visited the store, the store manager Jenny told me that she's putting a big collage together and that I can send my pictures...which i did. It saddens me to see Betsey Johnson going out of business. I still can't believe it. I wanted my daughter to have that beautiful experience I used to have going into the Betsey stores. I've always thought I'd go there to pick up my daughter's prom dress...
Oh well, I will continue to rock my old Betsey dresses... and give them to my daughter.

WHY MAXI DRESS?

Another beautiful day in the nation's capital today today... I put on my floral maxi dress and hit the streets of DC to get a cupcake before work. I was never a cupcake enthusiast... that is until i tried the red velvet cupcake from Georgetown Cupcake. I tasted their amazing cupcake before they became a nationally celebrated brand and I'm not surprised at their success. The cupcakes are delicious!!! Anyway, this maxi dress is my absolute favorite... In fact it is my very first maxi dress. Its smooth silky fabric and beautiful print won me over. Comfort is one thing i always look for in clothing... and this maxi dress is perfect. It is breezy without being see-through. Playful without having too much details. I accessorized with long gold chain, gold floral bracelet, gold and pearl ring, and gold earrings. The final touch: hobo bag. After years of searching for the perfect one, i saw this one in Barney's.

SUMMER DRESSES 2.0

Ha! This has been a particularly long time since i've written my last entry. The last entry is dated almost a year ago!!! I will try to write more now. So much happened since the last time i sat in front of my computer to write on my blog... I am now studying PR at the American University, the most liberal college in the U.S. I really really like the program. I get to do all sorts of things that i never dreamed of doing (i worked for a person who was trying to build a museum in Washington DC!!) and meet extremely talented and smart people everyday. The only problem is the tuition. I am working and going to school at the same time. NEVER a fun experience. I did the same thing during my undergrad years, and i gotta say i was absolutely exhausted at the end. Hopefully I will survive this one! haha. (This is why i've been not writing on my blog) Anyway, no matter how I'm buried under tons of books and papers, I still manage to wear half way decent clothes... By this, i don't mean all fancy stuff. I mix and match. And yes, i am not the girl who spends hundreds and thousands of dollars every few months on designer stuff.. Basically, the seasonal clothing budget thing just doesn't ring a bell for me.
~The summer is here, ladies!!! So let's talk about summer fashion... and especially summer dresses. Every year, I seem to add at least 1 summer dress to my collection of fun summer dresses. My grandma used to wear all sorts of beautiful summer dresses when she was younger. I remember those black and white pictures of her wearing floral, striped, and polka dotted dresses. On my part, I've always loved summer dresses. I had this bright orange bohemian summer dress with huge floral prints. Oh, how much i used to love that dress! I wore it everywhere (I wore that dress at my 10th birthday!) You could spot me from far away. I just think that summer dresses make women look and feel more feminine. I understand if you have a problem with me promoting femininity. Just stop reading this. I act differently when i am wearing a dress. The way i walk and talk becomes very lady-like if you ask me. Usually i like short summer dresses, but i have couple of maxi dresses that i wear occasionally. Women stopped wearing summer dresses for a really long time... but recently i started noticing more women wearing summer dresses. (Thank you, Forever 21 and H&M for making affordable cute dresses) I know that shorts are much comfortable, but rocking summer dresses once in a while is totally worth it. You'll understand what I'm talking about when you try one. I don't recommend wearing a short dress on a windy day. And I highly recommend NOT wearing granny-undie at all times while wearing a summer dress. Alright ladies, enjoy the sun and wear the dress :D
Last but not least, a little reminder to my readers (i imagine my readers are mostly women), don't dress up for other people, dress up for yourself.

THE PARTY DRESS

                             

My spring formal was fun. I had the most special date, my husband, and we danced the night away. I chose this dress for its color and fit. Although I'm not big on this kind of green, it somehow won me over. It is tight without making me look like a overstuffed sausage. I wore it once before to a birthday party and left it in my closet for a whiiile. As I panic-ed about the spring formal dress, I snatched this one first. And bang, I found my match. I rocked my Chanel and 6-inch heels.
