BELOVED GARMENT: Old mint green dress

Beloved old dress #9: Mint green floral button down... The pure simplicity of this dress is why i love it so much. It is cotton, so it's very comfortable. With a touch of belt, it is a great outfit for a daytime.
Every time i wear this dress, I get compliments. Women think it is chic, and men think it's cute. Hey, I can totally live with that. (Planning on rocking this dress until I can't fit into it)

SOMETIMES THE BORING OLD IS GREAT! (closet drama)

Lady in Red walking down the streets of D.C

Call me selfish and whatever else you can think of, but i hate sharing my closet. That means, my friends and family never borrow my clothes. Even if they did, I'd just say no. Recently though, I decided to give away some of my goodies to my nieces and cousins. The reason being: 1) I decided to be a good relative, 2) I cannot fit into most of them, 3) my closet is completely full and I barely see most of my clothes (Note: I do not own a walk-in closet. My closet is tiiiny and some of my clothes are on a 'runway' rack in the middle of my bedroom. Classy, I know!) So anyway, I almost chose this red number to give away...  I had this dress for 9 years. I wore it probably ten-fifteen times. I remember falling in love with it when I first saw it in a store... But for something happened today. I passed by the see-through basket full of clothes, and saw this 'gem'. Wait a minute, I was going to give you up?? I tried it on and it fit me just fine... and that's when it hit me. I was just bored to see the same old thing in my closet. I didn't even bother to try on this dress when I decided to dump it in the basket... Ahh, how glad I saw this dress again. Fell right back in love!

WHY MAXI DRESS?

Another beautiful day in the nation's capital today today... I put on my floral maxi dress and hit the streets of DC to get a cupcake before work. I was never a cupcake enthusiast... that is until i tried the red velvet cupcake from Georgetown Cupcake. I tasted their amazing cupcake before they became a nationally celebrated brand and I'm not surprised at their success. The cupcakes are delicious!!! Anyway, this maxi dress is my absolute favorite... In fact it is my very first maxi dress. Its smooth silky fabric and beautiful print won me over. Comfort is one thing i always look for in clothing... and this maxi dress is perfect. It is breezy without being see-through. Playful without having too much details. I accessorized with long gold chain, gold floral bracelet, gold and pearl ring, and gold earrings. The final touch: hobo bag. After years of searching for the perfect one, i saw this one in Barney's.

Bright Colors + Funky Prints = Fashion Courage

I am definitely one of those people who wear a lot of colors. So this colorful mess is what I wore today. I'm not a fan of long skirts, so I own only two ankle-length skirts. This bright blue silk skirt one of them. I got it from a tiny boutique in LA five years ago. It caught my eye, and i remember thinking I will leave this store with this skirt no matter what... The fashion police says that it is illegal to wear floral prints with stripes. I say "Why not?" I love mixing and matching funky prints... My pink and orange tube top compliments the pink floral prints on the skirt. (Accessories: vintage-looking* earrings and 60's cat-eye shades. I recommend wearing sandals with this kind of fun outfits.
